One of NY's premiere galleries has set down on Western Avenue near Melrose and a plethora of restaurants and other galleries have sprung up around it. Here's how to explore Melrose Hill.
I’ve been reading articles about the “new neighborhood” of Melrose Hill for months, so I grabbed an intrepid friend and headed to the intersection of Melrose and Western to explore. We saw world-class art, ate a meal from a James Beard award winner, and dropped in on several galleries and shops. The neighborhood isn’t new, but the energy is. Since I visited these few blocks six months ago, several restaurants have popped up amongst the scattering of galleries. Architectural Digest calls this area “a must” for art lovers so why not explore now while it’s still fresh?
