Olafur Eliasson OPEN at MOCA
An imaginative exhibit from the Icelandic-Danish artist at the Geffen Contemporary, part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, encourages playful interaction. Pair with a quick visit to Little Tokyo.
Olafur Eliasson OPEN occupies all of MOCA’s Geffen Contemporary, a police warehouse-turned-museum with cavernous gallery spaces located next to Little Tokyo. I visited with a small set of friends and, because none of us had visited this space for years, our spirit of adventure was high. We didn’t know what to expect (which is a great way to start exploring) and, fortunately the experience didn’t let us down. Eliasson is a world-renowned artist working with light, space, color, and perception and his large, site-specific installations use elements from the natural world in memorable ways. We loved this show! Read on to learn more about this intriguing artist and make a plan to see Olafur Eliasson OPEN, which is on view through July of next year.
